Michael's early birthday celebration...

Michael's preschool only has 1 1/2 weeks left.

It has been a really fun year for Michael with his preschool class that he goes to twice a week. I think he's grown a lot socially, and has had a LOT of fun with all the activities they do.

Because he won't be in school for his birthday, he got to have an early birthday celebration today where we brought birthday treats for snacktime. I asked him if he wanted me to just leave the snack with his teacher, or if he wanted me and Abby and Bekah to bring them and have snacktime with his class.

His face lit up and he said "come, and I'll tell the sisters all about my class and friends!"

So come, we did... and he told Bekah and Abby everyone's name and pointed out all of the different stations and his favorite activities. It was cute to see how happy he was to have us there.

We brought cupcakes and fruit kabobs, and the other kids were all really sweet and doted over the girls.

Abby and Bekah made themselves right at home. They ate at a little table on the side, then found their own favorite places and activities in the room.

Bekah with the water toys.

Abby with the barn animals.

For some reason, the videos I took didn't work out... which is really sad. Oh, well. It is always fun to see him interact with his peers. It was a fun afternoon.

Michael, where did you get that lakers shirt? I know that your mommy and daddy wouldn't have got that for you. :)

jonny: mommy and daddy purchased it for him...crazy huh?

after the jazz were beaten by the lakers, michael realized he had developed an affinity for the men in yellow. he has done all-things-yellow lately. when he heard that mom and dad were going to 'los angeles' (to meet joe and amy), he asked if he could come with us to see the laker's 'homecourt'.

while we were walking near hollywood and vine we stopped by a tourist shop with $5 t-shirts. joe bought one for his maintanence guy at work and we bought another to get the group discount. michael was ecstatic.

don't worry jonny, michael still wears his jazz jersey with pride, but has commented on how the purple colors can double for the lakers colors when they are at the other teams 'homecourt'.

unfortunately, the other day i told him he didn't need to wear an undershirt beneath his jersey when sleeping. he asked, 'is that what kobe does?' disconcerted i said, 'well, we don't need to pattern what we do after kobe.' 'kobe has done some not-so-nice things in his life and even though we can respect his great basketball abilities, we shouldn't pattern our whole lives after him.'

michael thought for a moment and said, 'what not-so-nice thing did kobe do?'

i evaded his question artfully...
